The advantages of the normal "double-triangle" style over a step-through are greater strenth/stiffness, but it's unlikely to make much of a difference. There's nothing wrong with a step-through frame, especially if you're going to be in regular clothes. But a hybrid is better for running quick errands (like the ice cream store). A road bike is more efficient for long-distance recreational (or competitive) riding on paved roads. Don't spend any more than that on a hybrid because later on (if you stay on pavement) you will end up wanting a road bike as u/CaptainArrogant mentioned. Either the FX 1 or 2 (new from the store) is fine. If you're not riding more than 5-10 miles and mainly going to be on pavement, a hybrid is a good choice. I’m going to my LBS this weekend to look at different models and test ride some bikes. It's free, and has received positive reviews.Īkron, OH Atlanta Austin Australia Baltimore Bay Area Boise Boston Buffalo Chicago Carolinas Colorado Columbus, OH Dallas-Fort Worth DC Delaware Detroit Edmonton Grand Rapids Halifax Hawaii Houston Indiana Ireland Leeds London Los Angeles Louisiana Madison Manchester Miami Milwaukee MO Montreal Nashville NYC Oklahoma City Omaha Ottawa Philadelphia Pittsburgh Portland Richmond Rochester Sacramento Salt Lake City San Antonio Scotland Seattle SoCal St. ![]() ![]() New to cycling?
